Teacher of Social Science

Permanent, Full-time | Start Date: 28 January 2026

Are you a passionate Social Sciences teacher who is:

  • committed to enacting Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • inspired by future-focused, student-centred pedagogy
  • reflective, collaborative, and eager to keep growing
  • optimistic, innovative, and ready to contribute to a vibrant learning community?

We are seeking a Social Sciences teacher to join a dynamic and supportive team in our innovative, future-focused school. Please state you areas of specialty within the Social Sciences.

You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues to design learning that is rich, relevant, and challenging for your junior and senior classes. As a learning coach, you’ll also support a small group of students to develop the dispositions, skills, and confidence they need to thrive in life beyond school.

There may also be the possibility of pastoral leadership opportunities for the right applicant, and Hobsonville Point Secondary School is an excellent place to grow and develop your leadership capability.

At HPSS, relationships are at the heart of learning. We are proud to be a caring, inclusive community where both staff and students are genuinely supported to succeed. Teachers often tell us they feel re-energised and empowered by our approach.

In close partnership with Te Kawerau ā Maki, we support all staff to develop culturally sustaining and relational pedagogies, underpinned by restorative practice.

If you’re excited about teaching in a school that values innovation, care, and connection, we’d love to hear from you.
