English Teacher for 2026

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an outstanding English teacher for 2026 who can teach up to NCEA Level 3 and Scholarship.

Whether you’re early in your teaching career or looking for a new leadership opportunity, we want to hear from you. We welcome applications from those with subject expertise and those interested in a variety of middle leadership roles.

At HPSS, relationships are at the heart of learning. We are a caring, inclusive community school where students and staff are genuinely supported to thrive. Teachers often say they feel re-energised and empowered by our restorative, innovative, and future-focused approach.

We are committed to enacting Te Tiriti o Waitangi and embedding mātauranga Māori, Te Reo Māori me ngā tikanga Māori throughout our curriculum and school culture and we work in close partnership with our iwi, Te Kawerau ā Maki. All staff are supported in developing culturally sustaining and relational pedagogies.

You will use your subject expertise to inspire students and collaborate across learning areas to design engaging, interdisciplinary learning experiences. Teachers consistently say that one of the most rewarding aspects of teaching here is the role of learning coach, supporting a small group of students to grow in both academic and personal excellence.

If this sounds like a place where you’d belong and thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
